Boating Safety
Your safety is our top priority. Review these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable day on the water.
Before You Board
Inspect the craft and all equipment before departure. Confirm everything is in suitable and acceptable condition.
Review the boat's maximum occupancy and ensure your group does not exceed it.
Locate and count all life jackets — one for every passenger is required.
Identify the location of the fire extinguisher and other safety equipment.
Complete a brief pre-departure orientation with our team.
Sign the rental agreement acknowledging your understanding of all rules and responsibilities.
Designate a primary boat operator who is experienced and capable.
Safe Operation on the Water
Operate the boat at safe speeds appropriate for conditions and posted speed zones.
Maintain a proper lookout at all times — be aware of other boats, swimmers, and hazards.
All passengers must wear life jackets in accordance with Arizona boating regulations.
Never operate the craft under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or narcotics.
Do not allow anyone other than the authorized renter or a qualified, designated operator to drive the boat.
Follow all posted rules and regulations on the water and at the marina.
Keep a safe distance from shorelines, other vessels, and restricted areas.
Reduce speed in no-wake zones and near docks.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the craft and all equipment in safe, dependable condition during your rental.
Report any accident, malfunction, or breakdown to Drift & Dock immediately.
You are responsible for the safety and behavior of all guests on board.
Do not use the rental craft for any unlawful purpose or in a careless or negligent manner.
Return the craft on time, in the condition it was received. Early returns will not result in a refund.
Any damage to the craft, missing equipment, or need for excessive cleaning may result in charges against your damage deposit.
Arizona Boating Regulations
Arizona has specific laws governing recreational boating. Here are key regulations to be aware of:
All boats must carry at least one USCG-approved life jacket per passenger.
Children under 12 must wear a life jacket at all times while underway.
A fire extinguisher must be on board and accessible.
Boating under the influence (BUI) is illegal and carries serious penalties.
Arizona requires a boating safety education certificate for operators born on or after January 1, 1986.
Navigation lights are required from sunset to sunrise.

Weather & Cancellations
Arizona weather can change quickly, especially during monsoon season (June – September).
Monitor weather conditions before and during your rental.
If conditions become unsafe, return to the dock or a sheltered area immediately.
Drift & Dock reserves the right to cancel rentals due to inclement or impending bad weather.
Weather-related cancellations may be prorated based on the time used.
